About Me

Old Poway 12

Hello! My name’s Endora and I’m so happy that you’re stopping by to visit my blog! Seriously, thanks so much! HUGS.

So there’s just two things that you should know about me: I’m a Christian and I’m a work in progress.

This blog is where I hope to write about anything that I find interesting, challenging, encouraging, etc. with you. I’m also an amateur when it comes to writing and taking photographs, but hopefully, through time and much practice, I’ll gradually improve. (Hopefully.) More importantly, I want this blog to be an extension of myself — a platform where I can share how God’s working in my life and a space for me to muse aloud. Ultimately, I want to glorify Him in everything that I do, and that includes what I’ll be saying on the internet.

The name “Persevering Joy” (coined with the help of my friend musicgoon) is derived from one of my favorite Bible verses, James 1:2-4, which says,

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (English Standard Version)

I love this verse because it reminds me that all trials are inevitable. In the midst of my trials, I can choose to perceive it as a blessing from God. I have the option to consider trials and tribulations as joy because I must trust that God is always in control and that He intended it for my good. Through hardships and pain, God is sovereignly using my suffering to refine my character and to stretch my faith so that it will grow. There is no doubt that life is and will continue to be hard, but we can find joy in enduring through the unknown, the good times and the bad, because God is forever faithful and good.

Only by enduring and surrendering ourselves to Christ would we then be able to find true joy. Thus, this is what Persevering Joy’s all about. It’s a reminder for me to personally strive for joy in Christ alone, daily. While I’m just an ordinary girl that’s struggling to navigate through the mundane, I’m thankful to serve an extraordinary God who’s constantly teaching me how to fight for joy in this lifetime. And that always starts and ends with Him.

Here’s to sharing and persevering in joy through life together, friend! Coram Deo!
